In a game statistically dominated by Leesburg, South Sumter forced two critical errors and turned those into 13 points in a 27-13 win.  With 7:52 left in the second quarter a muffed punt by Leesburg's punt returner was recovered in the endzone by Edgeton Everett to tie the score at seven.  Mid way through the third quarter a bad exchange on a handoff by Leesburg was scooped up by defensive back Davey Vera and returned 40 yards for another defensive touchdown to give the Raiders a 20-13 lead after the extra point was missed.

Leesburg controlled the game in the first half holding South Sumter to 46 yards while racking up almost 200 yards.  Jalen Dozier got the Yellow Jackets on the board first with a 13 yard touchdown run to give them an early 7-0 lead.  However, they couldn't capitalize on any other drives and the muff punt tied the score at half.

The Raiders had good field position to start their first drive of the second half and a 15 yard pass to J.R. Finkley from Bryce Mobley got them down to the one yard line.  From there Ryan Evans scored on a one yard run to give them a 14-7 lead.  Leesburg quickly responded with a two play sixty five yard drive that was aided by a roughing the passer penalty.  Efrain Negron found Luther McDowell for a 35 yard reception and then Negron finished it off with a nice 15 yard touchdown run.  The extra point was missed making the score 14-13.

On the last play of the third quarter South Sumter QB Ian Pappinheim found a wide open EJ Hall for a 58 yard touchdown pass to give them a 27-13 lead.  Leesburg had a first and goal from the one mid way through the fourth quarter but South Sumter's defense would make a goal line stand to end the Yellow Jackets chances.

Leesburg ran 78 offensive plays.  The Yellow Jackets rushed for 306 yards and had 351 total yards.  They were led by McDowell who finished the night with 103 yards rushing.  Dozier had 92 yards rushing and Negron added 62.  South Sumter struggled to move the ball only gaining 67 yards on the ground and 98 in the air but 58 came on one play.

South Sumter was without QB Dylan Fairbanks, a South Lake transfer.  They also rotated a lot of guys as did Leesburg.   The Raiders have a great incoming ninth grade class that they expect to contribute right away.  Expect up to four or five of those to see significant playing time and push to be starters.
