Donald Scott leads Apopka over Deland |

Donald Scott scored the first points of the game on a 35 yard reception from Keon Brooks. He also capped off the game with a 17 yard touchdown run. In between Scott added two more touchdown runs of 58 and 3 yards to give the Blue Darters a 49-21 win. Scott wasn't the only Blue Darter that had a big night. Brooks had runs of 64 and 43 yards. His 64 yard touchdown run late in the second quarter gave the Blue Darters a 26-14 lead. He finished the night with 13 carries for 170 yards and also was 6 of 9 passing for 115 yards. Deante Saunders would answer Apopka's first touchdown returning the kickoff 94 yards to give the Bulldogs an early 7-6 lead. After a Scott 56 yard touchdown run, LB Joe Denis would scoop up a Saunders fumble and return it 50 yards to give the Blue Darters a 19-7 lead.Saunders would return the next kickoff to the 50 and a personal foul face mask would set the Bulldogs up deep in Apopka's territory. Earl Martinez found Dramon Grady on 4th and 6 for a 25 yard reception. That led to a Saunders 3 yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 19-14. Just before the half, Deland had the ball on Apopka's 38 yard line. Saunders scrambled to the one yard line and the Bulldogs called a timeout with one second left. The Blue Darters stuffed Saunders just short of the end zone preserving a 26-14 lead. Saunders would finish with 99 yards rushing and 70 yards passing. Sean Capobianco would put the game away on the first play of the second half. Capobianco took the snap, spun a few times and found a huge hole on the right side and out ran the Bulldog defense for a 65 yard touchdown run. Apopka finished the night with 373 yards rushing and 488 total yards. Apopka played the game without running back Tom Smith and Deland played without running back Shontrelle Johnson. Both players are expected to have big years for their respective team.
