Donald Scott leads Apopka over Deland Print E-mail
Written by Ty Ensor

Donald Scott scored the first points of the game on a 35 yard reception from Keon Brooks.  He also capped off the game with a 17 yard touchdown run.  In between Scott added two more touchdown runs of 58 and 3 yards to give the Blue Darters a 49-21 win.

Scott wasn't the only Blue Darter that had a big night.  Brooks had runs of 64 and 43 yards.  His 64 yard touchdown run late in the second quarter gave the Blue Darters a 26-14 lead.  He finished the night with 13 carries for 170 yards and also was 6 of 9 passing for 115 yards.

Osceola ties Ridge Community 7-7 Print E-mail
Written by Ty Ensor

Osceola fumbled the first offensive play setting up Ridge Community in great field position.  The Kowboy defense would force a 4th and 22 but Karlos Williams would scramble for 28 yards setting up the Bolts with first and goal from the ten. Tyler Bodison would finish it off with a three yard run giving the Bolts an early 7-0 lead.

Dr. Phillips spring game called with the Panthers leading 14-3 Print E-mail
Written by Ty Ensor

With 8:05 left in the second quarter and Dr. Phillips leading 14-3, the Dr. Phillips vs Timber Creek game was called due to bad weather.  Dr. Phillips got on the board first on their second offensive possession.  A 15 yard run by Marvin Ford put the Panthers in good field position.  Dr. Phillips QB Robert Matey found Kenny Shaw crossing the middle and Shaw would do the rest.  Shaw made the corner miss for a 35 yard touchdown reception to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead.

Timber Creek would respond on their next possesion with a 65 yard drive that was aided by a roughing the quarterback and a pass interference call.  However, they would have to settle for a 32 yard field goal by Josh Lacy making the score 7-3.

Junior RB Dee Hart would give us a glimpse of what we saw last year.  Hart took the toss to the left, made two Wolve defenders miss, and raced 65 yards to the endzone.  The extra point would give the Panthers a 14-3 lead early in the second quarter.

Timber Creek would fumble on their next possession setting up the Panthers with first and ten on the Wolves 40 yard line.  Matey would find Shaw again for an apparent 40 yard touchdown reception but it was called back due to a holding penalty.  That would be the last play of the night as the bad weather rolled in.  The game will not be finished as both schools have finals and graduation this week.

South Sumter cashes in on Leesburg's mistakes Print E-mail
Written by Ty Ensor

In a game statistically dominated by Leesburg, South Sumter forced two critical errors and turned those into 13 points in a 27-13 win.  With 7:52 left in the second quarter a muffed punt by Leesburg's punt returner was recovered in the endzone by Edgeton Everett to tie the score at seven.  Mid way through the third quarter a bad exchange on a handoff by Leesburg was scooped up by defensive back Davey Vera and returned 40 yards for another defensive touchdown to give the Raiders a 20-13 lead after the extra point was missed.

Lake Highland shuts out Berkeley Prep 17-0 Print E-mail
Written by Ty Ensor

Lake Highland jumped out to a quick start in the spring game against Berkeley Prep.  On the fourth play of the game Lake Highland's eighth grade RB BJ Simpson took the hand off to the right, reversed field and out ran the defense for a 59 yard touchdown run.  After a three and out by Lake Highland's defense the Highlanders took over on Berkeley Prep's 47 yard line.  On the first play QB Bobby Borcky ran the option play to perfection.  After a fake to the fullback, Borcky got outside the defense to the left, cut back all the way across the field to the right and scampered 47 yards to give the Highlanders a quick 14-0 lead.
