Looking for the Best Fans

Print E-mail

I have been to several big games around Central Florida over the last few weeks and have been impressed, and amazed. However, I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the crowd at Edgewater vs Apopka last Friday Night. That game is traditionally suppose to be ''the game'' isn't it. The game was played at Edgewater, but at several points of the game I thought Apopka was the home team.

The crew from the A-P-K was in full support for the showdown and the Blue Darters once again had the best fans and football team for that Friday Night.

So, now I am in search for the best fans of Central Florida once again. I want to know who has the best pre-game, during the game, and post game fans town. Also, I never consider a football teams record when basing my decision. If you have fun at your home games and think your fans are the best, then let me know so I can join in the fun.

Also, I have gotten some requests to be a part of  a few pep rallies. WildMan has no problems taking part in the festivities, but make sure it is approved first then holler at me.

Where are the best fans this week? Whose cheering section is going to be the loudest and proudest? Let me know and drop me a line at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

One more thing. I have been challenged to two eating contests this year, and I am 2-0...

Rioting and tailgating with the Wildman

Print E-mail

Sorry I have been gone all, but I have had to recover from my experiences with the East Ridge Riot and Lyman faithful.

First, let me talk about the East Ridge Riot. Great fans and great idea. I love how they have dedicated an actual student section too students, and more importantly properly named themselves. The Riot don't need cheerleaders to get them going (no offense ladies,) these students truly enjoy themselves at the game win or lose. I'd go out on a limb and say even if there wasn't a sporting event taking place, and the Riot were in attendance things will get rowdy. Overall: Great fans.

I especially want to thank the Senior Spirit Leaders for making me an honorary Spirit Leader for the night. I hope I represented the sash and Riot proudly.

Now to Lyman...

Where to begin? These guys are the closest thing to an SEC fraternity at a high noon Saturday kickoff. Let me begin. They get things started  with a bar-b-q tailgate where they play football, throw the frisbee, and get loud and proud with the cheerleaders that stop by. Then as the visiting team drives in they line up in the street and give the away team a not so welcome "welcoming party.'' Just for the record they do it very classy.

When it gets close to game time they do a run to the stadium, so they can be first in line to get tickets and first in to the stadium.

This blog does not do the Lyman Greyhounds fans justice, because I feel like I could write endlessly about the things I encountered and participated in with them. (Like a hamburger eating contest...and yes I won)

I know I praised Apopka for their fans, but from pre-game to post-game Lyman has shown me they are the best fans in Central Florida so far...

To see how I spent the day with the Lyman Crazies tune in to Varsity Sports this Sunday, and relive the fun I shared with these great fans.

After you watch how they act for game day I know other schools will want to top it. The question is, who will?

If you think your school has the best fans I want to hear about it, and come share the Friday Night Lights with your fans. E-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

I am the Wildman and I am out!

From The A-P-K!

So in case you missed Varsity Sports on Sunday, this is what I have to say after spending a Friday night with Apopka. WOW! Not, Woooooooo, but WOW!

The Apopka Death Squad were in full force and they absolutely rocked the house. I have been to tons of athletic events, and I truely believe that the fans at Apopka are some of the best anywhere. Homemade noisemakers, body paint, blow horns, air horns, what else could there possibly be? Did I mention they do push ups in the air by holding up fans and counting out loud how many points they have? Well, they do...

The fans never sit, are never quiet, and are constantly making noise from the stands. You know come to think of it, I was at Wrestlemania earlier in the year and the Blue Darter fans were clearly more electric than what I was a part of. No DDT's at the A-P-K but there were plenty of TD's.

Recently, I also stopped by and partied it up with the East Ridge Riot. You'll have to check back later for those details.

I'm Out!

Hello all! Want a visit from the Wildman?

It's me, It's me, It's the W-I-L-D-MAN!

Hello all you high school athletic crazies. Each and every week you know the drill. I am on the search for the loudest, wildest, most creative, amped up fans I can find across Central Florida.

If you want me at your school e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and tell me why you think I should party it up one night in your team's stands.

I started the year with Boone. Not bad, not bad, but I thought I missed out on the full experience when the "Orange Bodies" were MIA.

The Soul Bowl, wow! Great atmosphere, best bands, but who rocks the stands better between Evans and Jones? Had to give the nod to Jones.

On Varsity this week you will see the Wildman representing from the A-P-K. I hear their fans are so loud you can hear them from College Park! What does Edgewater think of that
